Joyent has teamed up with Sun Startup Essentials and Facebook to provide an optimized development platform free for one year. The Facebook specific Joyent Launch Accelerator is a shared platform running on the Joyent Accelerator Cloud. It is simply the fastest and easiest (not to mention, most affordable) way to develop and deploy your Facebook application.
Speed and Ease: The program is designed to accelerate the development, launch and maintenance of your Facebook apps by minimizing the need for system administration. Just code your killer Facebook application and deploy. The Joyent Launch Accelerator for Facebook does not give you root access. If you need the added flexibility of root access, 
please check out the Joyent Public Cloud.
Scales with Success: When your application takes off we will work with you to create an efficient plan for porting your application to the Joyent Accelerator Cloud. We have experience with the range of scale pattern and are happy to share how to get the most from our Enterprise Class Infrastructure to support your successful application.
Language and Framework Support: The Joyent Launch Accelerator supports Ruby on Rails, PHP “Out of the Box”, and Python. We do not currently support Windows but stay tuned for updates. For addition language and framework information please consult the Knowledge Base.

Affordable: We know that any new venture is challenging, so we give you one less thing to think about and give you free access to the platform for the first year. After the first year, it is easy and affordable to continue on the Joyent cloud.
What You Get
- One Joyent Launch per Facebook account with a single SSH/SFTP login
- One MySQL and PostgreSQL login with up to 5 databases (in total) allowed, access to phpMyAdmin and phpPgAdmin tools
- 5 GB of total disk space
- 100 GB of bandwidth each month
- 200 MB of total memory available, with a 100 MiB per-process limit
- One web URL for your applicaton in the form of .facebook.joyent.us (includes DNS provided by us)
- 10 ports to run processes on
- Ability to create Cron jobs and define Bootup Actions (SMF services)
- Many utilities and tools
